Conservative street lighting systems in zones with a low frequented passerby are lightened most of the nighttime without purpose. The result is that a large amount of energy is wasted uselessly. With the broad availability of electronics components like LDR that sense the light and control on it, powers conserving street lighting systems become reality. Therefore, the purpose of this invention is to provide a smart street lighting system which saves power of lighting street at night instead of loss it because the load of cars and walkers is few. This purpose is accomplished via use of controlling circuit which turns on a group of lamps at a specific time and after the time over, this group is turned off while another set of lights are turned on also with a specific time and so on. This work is focusing on developing automatic lighting system with using of light-dependent resistor (LDR) as a sensor of the sunshine and using a timer (NE555 IC). This system is low cost as it does not contain expensive sensors and it is also easy to implement as take very low space for installation.

ABSTRACT Only one in five Bangladeshis has access to power. Probably, it is more discouraging in the rural areas of the Country. People living in the land are observing serious load shedding due to the generation deficit. The suffering of its citizen could lessen by a proper load management system. In this paper, the authors have designed and fabricated a circuit that can control (on/off) distribution line of a specific region based on the intensity of the daylight (LUX).

— This paper aims at designing and executing the advanced development in embedded system for energy saving of street lights. Nowadays, human have become too busy and are unable to find time even to switch off the lights wherever not necessary. The present system is like the lights are switched on in the evening and they are switched off next day in the morning. This paper gives the best solution for electrical power wastage. Also the human effort required is minimised. The paper basically uses two sensors namely LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) and the IR (Infrared) sensor; the LDR will be used to detect whether it is the day or night time and IR sensor will help in finding if the object is present or not. The Raspberry Pi will act as brain to control this system which uses Python programming language. This system is successfully implemented as prototype system.

INTERANTIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT

In day-to -day life, electricity use has been an area of concern worldwide. Most of the power stations are based on the fuels that are conventional with not having many non-renewable sources available. Solar and wind are the new and renewable power sources that we should proceed on to. As we should not run into the power shortage of electricity, effective use of the available conventional and non- renewable sources should be done. The essential part of day-to-day life is Street lights that consume large amounts of electricity. The large amount of power consumption takes place by the manual operated street lighting system as they work on the given condition of from evening to early morning and heavy installation cost play the role of great disadvantage as we are in one of the developing countries. By using on/off mechanism and targeted dimming we can reduce the power consumption by 35%. The overall consumption of the energy can be reduced by 42% by doing the proper maintenance of the.

— This paper proposes energy efficient automatic street lighting system based on low cost microcontroller. The main objective is to design energy efficient based controller for controlling the Light Emitting Diode (LED) based street lamp via appropriate lighting levels control. This system consists of a microcontroller, light sensor, PIR sensor and a set of the LED module. The controlling and managing of the system is based on the density of traffic and five different level of street light brightness has been used for lighting up street proportional to the density of traffic. The system was programmed to automatically turn off during the night. Several numbers of tests have been conducted to test and validate the proposed prototype in the different environment. As conclusion, around 77%-85% reduction in power consumption can be achieved through this proposed automatic street lighting system for energy efficiency system design.

In olden days, Street lights are controlled manually. Nowadays automation of street light has emerged. This project is about how to control the power consumptions at the streets and eliminating manpower. It includes controlling a circuit of street lights with specific Sensors, LDR and Microcontrollers during day and night time. One can observed that there is no need of high intensity of light in peak hours, when no traffic and even in early morning by reducing the intensity in this time. Energy can be saving up to some extent. Solar energy is collected with the aid of solar cell and battery is charged during day time and this energy is used for power street lights during night time. In addition, if a solar tracker system is used we can attain maximum energy from the sun. This project explains the system that automatically control the intensity of street light which is design using microcontroller and LEDs.

Now-a-days the amount of power consumed by lighting and streets shares a major energy demand. Nowadays, human has become too busy, and is unable to find time even to switch off the lights wherever not necessary. Generally, street lights are switched on for whole night and during the day, they are switched off. But during the night time, street lights are not necessary if there is no traffic. Saving of this energy is very important factor these days as energy resources are getting reduced day by day. To overcome from this issue, a proper energy saving methods and lighting control to be implemented. The proposed work is to have two controls like, one is to switch of lights during no vehicle moments in streets and automatically switch it on when vehicles arrive and the other modes are to give less intensity light for pedestrian and to switch on bright mode during vehicle moments at sides on the roads. In this work the sensor is used for street arrangement, the Photo diodes and IR sensors are used to sense vehicle moments. The control signals of sensors have been fed to microcontroller 8051. Moreover the automatic and intelligent control schemes are required to control the complex lighting system due to growth of cities and standard of living.
